Mount of Lost Memories Debut Book Launch!
Recently (okay, maybe last month), I threw the most glamorous book launch party you’ve ever seen for my debut novel Mount of Lost Memories. Picture it: surrounded by sweaty gym rats on treadmills, fluorescent lighting, and the faint smell of chlorine wafting from the pool. I'm being entirely honest when I say... it was AWESOME!!!
The book launch was a smashing success—seriously, I sold out of all 25 books I brought with me (I thought I'd be lucky if I sold two!). That includes the eight special gift packages featuring stickers and bookmarks designed by a dear friend of mine. People were snatching my books up like they were limited-edition sneakers. (Okay, maybe not exactly like that, but close.)
What made it even better? Seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new readers for the first time. I loved catching up with friends who’ve been cheering me on from day one and connecting with strangers who were excited about my book.
"THE Olivia Snow"
Speaking of strangers, let me tell you about the highlight of my day. A teenage girl approached me, eyes wide, and said, “Are you THE Olivia Snow? The author?”
THE Olivia Snow? I thought. I mean, technically, yes. I am Olivia Snow, and I am an author. But the tone of her voice sounded like she thought I was Sarah J. Maas and not a lady who just barely scraped out this book while writing in a corner at the local YMCA.
What was I supposed to say? “No, I’m just a Olivia Snow?” Of course not. I plastered on my best smile, said, “Yes! That’s me!” and hoped she wouldn’t Google me later and think, “Oh no, I bought a book from some random con-woman at the YMCA.” But hey, she bought the book, so I’m officially her Olivia Snow now.
HUGE Thanks to Friends, Family, and YMCA Staff
All jokes aside, the party was such a special experience. It was incredible to see people get excited about Mount of Lost Memories, and it reminded me why I pour my heart into writing: to share stories that (hopefully) make people laugh, swoon, and stay up way too late reading.
A massive thank-you goes out to the YMCA staff, especially the saintly child watcher, Leanne. Without them, this book wouldn’t exist. They’ve kept my kids entertained while I huddled at my somewhat suspect desk, typing furiously while the two older women behind me absolutely slay the bike machines. They’re basically the co-authors of this book.
To everyone who came to the party, bought a book, or just stopped by to chat—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means everything to me. And if you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry—I’ll keep you posted on future events. A newsletter is in the works!
Until then, happy reading!
Yours, THE Olivia Snow
